Messy Marriage’s 5-Year Blogiversary, Giveaway and WW Linkup

5 Year Messy MarriageI can’t believe it’s been five years since I had this hare-brained idea that people might resonate with and find comfort in a blog that focused on messy marriage. God has used this blog to not only minister to, hopefully you, our readers, but to my own marriage as well.

Sharing my story and other people’s real-life messy marriage stories has stretched  and grown me.

And …

[Tweet “Sharing the lessons God has taught me through my messy marriage has blessed me.”]

Honestly, though, it’s been the hardest five years—because I never dreamed how much this blog/ministry would require of me!

But also …

[Tweet “It’s been the BEST five years … and I’m looking forward to many more! #MM5blogiversary”]

Also, please pray for me and my husband as we begin to offer marriage workshops. We have one coming up this Friday (that’s all booked up! Yay!) and also next Friday that’s in Virginia (still have room). If you live in the Lynchburg, Virginia region, I’d love it if you’d check out our flyer by clicking on Connect U . Also if you have any friends who live in that region, please pass the info along to them as well!

I’m also guest posting over at my sweet friend Judith’s WholeHearted Wednesday this week. So if you have time, I’d love it if you’d check out my article, “Avoiding the Trap of Messy Motherhood” over at her place.

But since it is MM’s anniversary and a big one to boot … I’d like to do a BIG giveaway. So I’ve got five $10 Walmart gift cards that are burning a whole in my pocket! I’m planning on giving them to five randomly chosen people who comment below by Saturday, Oct. 17th at midnight (CDT). Please note you must live in either the continental U.S. or Canada to be eligible.

I wish I could also serve all of you some cake, but that might get a little “messy” if I tried to send it through the mail! So just make sure to eat some cake in honor of our big day! 😉

What’s ahead for MM? I plan on beginning a new series on “Men and Openness” next week that will be leading up to the big reveal of the survey results on that same subject in November (after I get back from my two week vacation in Virginia. Don’t worry, MM will be hosted by some great bloggy friends during those two weeks).

The results of the survey have been very interesting to see and I think it will be a really provocative and practical series, so I hope you’ll come on back to check it out!

Also, if you are a man in a committed relationship and haven’t completed my survey, please consider doing that for us as well! It’s just 8 mostly multiple choice questions, so it should only take a few minutes to complete. Thanks so much!

    Congrats on 5 years!!!

  • Andrew Budek-Schmeisser

Congratulations on five years! You’ve done so very much good in that time.

What I have learned in marriage, and in particular in my current situation, is that I may be called upon to show a level of compassion that I would not have believed possible.

And a topic – dealing with emotional infidelity would be a good one. I believe you’ve been there before, but in this day of Facebook friendships going beyond the pale, it may be worth another visit.

Congratulations on your 5 year anniversary! God has taught me to be more patient with my husband. I think sometimes I tend to be too controlling with how the household runs. Im trying to change my ways and be more open to my husband’s help.

  • Thank you Beth and congrats on your blogoversary!!

  • Abbasgirl Kimberly

Prayers for you and your husband in your workshop (s)! And thanks so much for all that you do for all of the messy marriages out here, including mine. May you and your family be as blessed as you are a blessing! The Lord be with you precious sis.

Happy Messy Marriage Anniversary! 5 Years! That is so awesome! What have I learned in the messiness of marriage? That when I’m mad/frustrated with my husband – most of it is my issue – not his! That was a humbling eye-opener! Praying for you guys!

  • Kayla G

What a mile marker to celebrate! Congratulations!
Through the messiness of marriage, God has shown me the amazing intimacy that results from repentance and forgiveness. No grudge or bitterness is worth the incredible complexity and depth of relationship that comes with reconciliation. How deep the Father’s love for us!

    • Yes! Beth has taught us that well here too. Forgiveness and repentance are surely vital to a strong marriage.

  • Congrats on your anniversary, followed you from #WFMW

  • Happy Anniversary!! You’ve made it exciting today (and every day). I have so enjoyed getting to know you here (and to meet you in person was a joy!). I might not always comment but I am blessed by YOUR words. I especially love Sloppy Joe Time…I think you do great vlogging. Periscope, maybe??? Wishing you a great time with your family in Virginia. ♥

Happy Blogiversary! Five years is a wonderful milestone. I have been blessed beyond words to find you and to get to know you. I treasure your friendship and beautiful encouraging heart. As for a lesson learned in marriage-Christ needs to be the center for a marriage to thrive. I am now being taught by my sons what this will look like in their own marriages. Hugs and I am enjoying the cake! 🙂

  • wow … men and openness. my experience is that most men just won’t / can’t go there. i just can’t wait to read your wisdom, girl. i always learn something to take away from our little visits.

meanwhile, happy anniversary. sounds like you’re launching into a vast new season. i, for one, can’t wait to see what God’s going to do through you!

    ;-}

Happy Blogiversary!!! What a milestone, and I know it’s hard for all of us bloggers who love ministering to others. One thing I’ve learned on your blogs is the story does not end with messes. The story will go on as we walk with God. Thanks for this ministry.

  • Anastasia Safee

Congratulations on the 5 year mark! That is a BIG one! Thank you for encouraging us all with your posts each week! And for the link up! Have a great day!

  • Congratulations Beth!
God can indeed do awesome things through little seeds of obedience. Messy Marriage has been a blessing and inspiration to me and I believe many others as well.
God has taught me in the “messiness of marriage” that life is NOT ALL ABOUT ME! And I am glad He did.
I know God will do many more great things through this blog…
Happy Blogiversary Beth! God bless you and your marriage!
    Love

  • Happy Anniversary! I have so enjoyed being here & getting to know you & others as well. One lesson I have learned through the messiness of marriage is this –> A messy marriage does not mean God cannot make it a beautiful marriage. Hard lesson to learn but so worth it!

  • Congratulations, Beth! I love how you’ve seen that your marriage was watered as you watered others. Many blessings for the future.

  • Mary Flaherty

Congratulations, Beth! I am so glad I found your blog this year! My husband took your survey, so I’m anxious to see the results. Prayers and blessings for your upcoming marriage workshops-so glad you’re full! I pray that this year will be one of overflowing and abundant blessings to both of you!

  • Congrats on 5 years! Sounds like some exciting stuff is going on around your place. Same here too! Marriage has taught me how to show grace to my husband as God has shown it to me. Lots of learning and growing within my marriage this year!

  • Erica Harriss

Happy blog-anniversary! Marriage has taught me that we are a TEAM, which means we win together, and we lose together.

  • Erika Brynildsen

Happy anniversary! This blog is great! Love reading it and all the helpful advice and stories

  • Erica

Congrats on 5 years! I have been following diligently this year and have found that examining my own heart and praying specifically for my husband and myself can bring positive change in my marriage. My expectations are crazy sometimes! Excited about the workshop!

  • Congratulations, Beth, and thanks for linking up at Mondays @ Soul Survival!

  • From one Beth to another, I am so glad I stopped in here! Happy 5 years!

  • Jen Hurley

    Happy Blog-a-versary!

One way God has used our marriage…. To show me my selfishness. And, I believe He is also using our marriage to rid me of it.

  • rboerner

Congratulations on 5 years! You have been such a blessing and inspiration to me in my marriage. Your desire and willingness to help marriages become healthy is so beautiful. God is using you! Over the past few years in my marriage I have learned to let God change ME – heal ME – love ME – use ME! And then pray, pray, pray for my marriage and my husband while I remain quiet with my eyes open so I can SEE and HEAR what God is doing without interrupting His amazing, perfect work in His very perfect timing!

  • Renee McDo

Congrats on the anniversary. Keep up the good work.

  • Andrea

Congrats! Looking forward to hearing more about your workshops!
