Wise Words #1 and Wedded Wednesday Link-up

Untitled

I’m going to begin a new tradition. Every now and then, I’m going to be on the look-out for articles that really knock my socks off and would bless my Messy Marriage readers too. I’m going to call these posts – Wise Words. So today’s first Wise Words spotlight goes to four women who I think always have great content on their blogs, but I’m going to highlight one specific post from each of them this time around.

1. Ngina Otiende shares authentically from her own life experience in, “6 Ways to Navigate Financial Difficulties in Marriage” at her amazing blog, Intentional Today. If you are in a financially tough season (and who isn’t these days!), you’ll glean some excellent advicenot just on how to cut backbut how to lean into the “lean times” and come through with greater hope and encouragement for the present and future!

2. Kelli Woodford has offered up an amazing “Share Your Story – Ties that Bind” here at Messy Marriage. But today I’m highlighting a deeply moving and authentic post she wrote, Thru Gritted Teeth {a thankful post} on her blog, Chronicles of Grace. I love how she is so real, raw and always redemptive in her writing and this one really shines when it comes to all three of those qualities. In this article, she shares about walking through a dark time while struggling to find God’s joy.

3. Becky Kopitzke blesses me every week with her motherly wisdom at her blog, Time Out: Devotions for Moms, but the one I’m highlighting this time around is, Put a Little Love in Your Voice. This article is geared towards mothers, but could be applied to our spouses just as well as our children! Again, I love how Becky is so vulnerable about her messy mommy-hood! And if you missed Becky’s “Share Your Story” article for MM back in December, then please check out her beautifully redemptive article, “Finding Contentment in Heartache.”

4. Elizabeth Spence does an amazing job of “fighting for marriage” over at The Warrior Wives and one recent article that caught my eye and convicted my heart was, When Maternal Instincts Rule the Roost. She gives a honest and disarmingly humorous look at how we sometimes disrespect our husbands in our need to hold down the fort at home. It’s that gentle nudge you know you probably need!

If you didn’t see your blog or article listed here, then hang on, I may be highlighting one of your amazing posts in the near future! Because I do love “blog-hopping!” So then let’s get right to it and do some more blog-hopping at Wedded Wednesday!

  • Megan@DoNotDisturb

    Great round up.

    Megan

  • Thank you for sharing your favorites for the week – and what a great way to celebrate Wednesday. It actually inspired me to rethink the theme of “wordless” wednesday…. why not Praise Worthy Wednesday, lifting our voices to the Lord in song.

  • Thank you so much for the highlight, Beth! What a blessing to start my messy day. 🙂 And I am bookmarking these other three ladies’ posts as well…thank you for your ministry and encouragement to all of us. Happy Wedded Wednesday!

  • Kathryn

    Hi beth,
I tried to leave a link today, but it said that my link was over 152 characters… it’s just a normal link. lol. Could we fix it?

  • bluecottonmemory

I will stop by and visit – thanks for high-lighting those that have impacted you!

  • Gaye @ CalmHealthySexy

    Gaye

  • Alecia

What a great idea! So much great information here!

  • I LOVE the new blog header, Beth. It’s been too long since I’ve been around. I think I will enjoy writing on marriage and parenting here. I love your real. raw. redemptive. style, friend. Thanks for this.

  • You are so welcome, Ngina! I always feel like you have great wisdom to offer. I can’t promise I’ll highlight you every time I do a “Wise Words” round-up, but be sure that I will always want to! 😉

  • I’m glad you linked up, Maurie and I hope you find that the other articles are helpful. I really enjoyed reading your post this week. You have a lot of wisdom for someone so new to married life! I hope you keep on linking up here at Wedded Wed, my friend!

  • You’re welcome, Elizabeth. And I always appreciate your work over at Warrior Wives. You are a very thought-provoking, discussion/provoking blogger! That’s a rare quality, my friend! Thanks so much for linking up too! 🙂

  • Thanks, Megan. I’m so glad you linked up too. I know your blog is going to show up one of these Wise Words Wednesdays in the future. I love what you are about over at Do Not Disturb!

  • Yes, I think that’s a great idea, Shannon. And I’m so glad you felt inspired by what I’m doing here. Always nice to hear! Thanks for linking up and I hope you keep on coming back!

  • You’re welcome, Becky. You are truly gifted writer with a heart for marriage and family … how could I not love what you are doing and are about, girlfriend! Keep on doing what you’re doing, because you are doing it very well, my friend!

  • I hope you got my email, Kathryn. And I hope you’ll give it another try–on this link up (doesn’t close till Friday near midnight) and next week. I’m going to look into a different linky provider, since I’ve had more problems with it than what you’ve noticed. And I look forward to sending you my article next week – in preparation for April 4th ( I think it is). I’m excited about it!

  • I hope you were blessed by what you read. I know I was when I read your post for this week’s link-up. You are such a gifted writer of prose. I have difficulty with the abstract–always have. My bachelors was in Fine Art and couldn’t ever get into abstract painting, so my writing seems to be the same way! But I love to read other’s offerings in prose. I’m so glad you’ve been linking up weekly too! You are a wonderful asset to Wedded Wednesday! I just wish I knew your first name! Private message me sometime, if you’re willing. But if you’re not, I completely get the need for privacy! 🙂

  • I’m grateful and humbled to be offering it, Gaye. You’ve been such a huge encourager in my life, as has your blog. You can bet that I’ll be highlighting one of your posts for “Wise Words” one day soon! Thanks, as always, for linking up!

  • I hope you’re blessed by what blessed me, Tanya. We have some really amazing neighbors here in this bloggy neck of the woods–including you, my talented friend! I really appreciate your post this week. I’m certain you’ll be highlighted here in the very near future!

  • I’m guessing that you love it because it’s what you’re all about at your place too. I feel like we are kindred spirits in this redemption writing stuff. Of course, I’m the practical-minded big sister and you’re the humble, eloquent and artistic younger sister! But underneath it all, we’re about the same things! I love your heart, Kelli! And I appreciate you linking up here this week too!

  • I just read your post and found it to be inspiring, moving and so very lovely. I’ve sent it on to a friend who is going through a similar trial. Thanks so much for linking up and I hope you come back next week … and every week thereafter! 😉

  • I had to chuckle when I read this, Hannah, because you are such an encourager and “sharer-of-the-love” over at your place, my dear! I love your heart to help others. It comes shining through and love that you’ve found me here and are a regular at the Wedded Wed link up! I hope this is the beginning of a lengthy bloggy-friendship!

  • I’m so glad you found it to be helpful! I hope you’re as blessed as I was when I read the posts. Thanks for coming by and letting me know that you liked it, Alecia!

  • I hope you do keep coming around, Nacole. Actually, I’m about to change
from Blogger to WordPress and change up the look header included (since it’s about a year and a half old–might not seem like a lot, but it’s a long time to me and I’m needing a change! haha!). Thanks for your kind words and I hope you link up with Wedded Wed next week! You could still do it this week until late Friday night, if you wanted. 🙂

  • 🙂 There’s a wealth of wisdom out there Beth and i appreciate you sharing them with us. Bless you!

  • Well, thank you. I didn’t even think about that when I posted. I did really enjoy the posts you shared. I always like it when I read bloggers who promote other bloggers. That’s how I find more great material!

  • Hey Beth ~
You’ve built up a super potpourri of posters! Love this resource, my friend!
